The Society of Photographic Education Southeast Region will be holding their annual conference at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Here is an exert from SPE’s website about this years’ conference:
If You Build It…
2014 Southeast SPE Conference
Join us in celebration of the constructed photographic image, and the role of process in image making. The creative process of making photographs will be explored through lectures, panels, and workshops featuring the talents and wisdom of accomplished regional and national artists, academics, and collectors. A gallery tour of Greenville will feature two world-class photographic exhibitions: “Image:Constructed::Constructed:Image”, a national exhibition at ECU School of Art’s Gray Gallery, curated by Angela Franks Wells, and a selection from the Allen Thomas Jr. Photography Collection, one of the most significant contemporary photo collections in the Southeast, at the Greenville Art Museum, curated by Daniel Kariko.
The keynote speaker is Aline Smithson, founder and editor of Lenscratch Blog.
Featured speakers include Thomas Allen and Amy Friend.
We will be honoring educator Mary Ruth Moore, for her decades of teaching at the University of Georgia in Athens.
